Garden landscaping in Bathgate

Garden Landscaping in Bathgate

A garden that’s easier to look after, a lawn for the kids or a proper patio to sit out on: whatever you’re after, we can plan it and build it.

Two-tone patio and lawn panels in a back garden landscaped by Prestige Paving

We work on gardens right across Bathgate, Armadale, Whitburn and Torphichen. Some just need a new lawn or fence, others need taking right back and starting again. We’ll come out, look at what’s there and talk it through with you.

We start by clearing the garden and sorting the levels. Patios, paths, edging and walls go in next, then the lawn, artificial grass or gravel to finish.

Drainage is planned from the start, so rain runs away from the house and the lawn doesn’t stay wet all winter.

What We Do

Patios & paving

Natural stone, porcelain, slab and block paved patios and seating areas.

Turf & artificial grass

New lawns laid on properly prepared ground, or artificial grass that stays green all year.

Sleepers & raised beds

Timber sleeper walls, raised beds and retaining edges for sloping gardens.

Paths & steps

Slab, block and gravel paths, steps and landings to get round the garden.

Gravel & borders

Decorative stone, slate chips, edging and low-maintenance borders.

Fencing

New fence panels, posts and gates to finish the garden off.

How we work

From bare ground to finished garden

No two gardens are the same, but we work the same way on all of them. Here are some finished ones.

Free visit & ideas

We look at the garden, check levels and drainage, talk through what you want and give you a fixed price.

Clear & dig out

Old turf, slabs, soil and rubbish are cleared and taken away, and the ground is dug out to the right levels.

Groundwork & drainage

Bases are built and compacted, and any drainage goes in so water has somewhere to go.

Hard landscaping

Patios, paths, steps, sleeper walls and edging are laid and set properly.

Soft landscaping

Turf, artificial grass, gravel and borders go in last to finish the garden.

Clean-up & handover

We clear every bit of waste, wash everything down and walk you round the finished garden.

Local know-how

Gardens we work on

Bathgate has big Victorian gardens in Balbardie and Windyknowe, smaller ones in Boghall and Durhamtown and new-builds at Wester Inch. These are the jobs we do most.

Small back gardens

Smaller gardens in Boghall and Durhamtown work much better with a patio, a lawn and a path laid out properly.

Sloping gardens

Bathgate sits below the hills, so plenty of gardens slope. Sleeper walls, steps and level areas make them usable.

New-build gardens

Homes at Wester Inch often came with thin turf and a small slab area. We replace them with a proper patio and lawn.

Family & pet gardens

Hard-wearing artificial grass, safe paths and space to play, without muddy patches.

Low-maintenance gardens

Patios, gravel and artificial grass for people who want a nice garden without the weekend work.

Garden rooms & sheds

Solid, level bases for garden rooms, sheds and summerhouses, finished to match the patio.

Garden makeovers

Garden Makeovers in Bathgate

When the whole garden needs doing, we clear it back to nothing, sort out the levels and drainage, then build in the patio, lawn, paths, beds and fencing you want.

One team does the lot, so it all fits together properly at the end.

  • Full clear-out and waste removal
  • Patios, lawns, paths and borders
  • Planned with you before we start

Patios & paving

Patios in Bathgate

Most gardens are built around the patio. We lay natural stone, porcelain, slab and block paved patios on a dug-out base, with each slab bedded in mortar and laid to a fall so water runs off.

  • Block paved patios and seating areas
  • Steps, landings and edging

Turf & new lawns

Turfing in Bathgate

Good turf needs good ground under it. We strip out the old grass and weeds, level and prepare the soil, then lay fresh turf tight so it roots in properly.

Block, kerb or sleeper edging keeps the lawn neat and makes it easier to cut.

  • Old lawn stripped and ground levelled
  • Quality turf laid tight
  • Block, kerb or sleeper edging

Artificial grass

Artificial Grass in Bathgate

Artificial grass looks green all year, never needs mowing and stands up to kids and dogs. We lay it on a compacted, free-draining base with a weed membrane so it stays flat and drains.

  • Laid on a proper free-draining base
  • No mowing, feeding or muddy patches
  • Great for small gardens, kids and pets

Sleepers & raised beds

Sleeper Walls & Raised Beds

Sleepers are a good way to deal with a slope. We build sleeper retaining walls, raised beds and steps so you get flat areas and somewhere to plant.

  • Sleeper retaining walls
  • Raised beds and planters
  • Steps and edging

Paths, gravel & borders

Garden Paths & Gravel

A path makes the garden easier to get round, and gravel or slate is an easy way to fill a border without weeding. Everything gets proper edging so it stays put.

  • Slab, block and gravel paths
  • Decorative stone and slate chips
  • Edging to keep stone off lawns

Fencing

Fencing in Bathgate

New fencing tidies the garden up and gives you some privacy. We fit fence panels, posts and gates, and replace old or storm-damaged fences.

Good to know

Landscaping questions we’re often asked

What does landscaping cost in Bathgate?

It depends on the size of the garden, what needs clearing, access and what you want doing. New turf or a fence costs much less than a full makeover with a patio and walls. We come out for free and give you a fixed price in writing.

Can you just do one part of the garden?

Yes. We do full makeovers, but we’re just as happy laying a new lawn, putting up a fence or adding a patio on its own.

Should I go for real turf or artificial grass?

Real turf is cheaper and feels natural, but it needs cutting and looking after. Artificial grass costs more to begin with but stays green, needs no mowing and suits families with kids or dogs. We lay both.

How long will the work take?

A new lawn or fence is usually a day or two. A bigger makeover with a patio, paths and lawn is normally one to two weeks, depending on size and access. We’ll tell you before we start.

Will I need planning permission?

Most garden work doesn’t. Raised decking or patios, tall fences or walls, listed buildings and conservation areas can be different. We’ll tell you if anything needs checking.

Do you take the rubbish away?

Yes. All the old slabs, soil, turf and rubble are cleared and taken away, and we tidy up at the end of each day.

My garden is always wet. Can you fix it?

Usually, yes. Depending on the cause, we can add drainage, change the levels, use permeable paving or lay artificial grass on a free-draining base.

Is your work guaranteed?

Yes, all of our work is guaranteed. We’re a vetted Checkatrade member, rated 9.83/10 from 50 verified reviews, and Checkatrade’s £1,000 guarantee applies to eligible jobs (their T&Cs apply).

Which areas around Bathgate do you cover?
